Welcome to the marketing podcast, the number one podcast helping aspiring entrepreneurs level up their marketing. here's your host, Augustine. Let the class begin.
Guys now in today's episode 49% of podcast funds report that advertising remains the most effective way to reach them compared to 37% of listeners from last year. And this was a survey done by adults media, Edison recite and podcast one. And this is despite the number of ads being exposed to podcast listeners increasing over time. And they also reported that super listeners would listen to around 10.5 hours a week in 2020 as compared to 9.8 hours in 2019. So the growth in podcasting is increasing over time, something that we've talked about also in the podcast, that podcasting is something that's here to stay and it's something that is growing over time is becoming now the new blog. And we can see from that. In other news, Facebook is facing of 40 anti trust lawsuit, as the Federal Trade Commission accuses it of being a social media monopoly that uses its dominance to squash rivals and vacuum up small competitors. Now one of the things that they mentioned also that is that the US regrets on approving Facebook of acquiring WhatsApp and Instagram or Instagram was acquired for I think around 1 billion and WhatsApp for for around 19 billion. And Facebook has been getting all this dominance. And this might be providing an opportunity for social platforms like like Tick tock, maybe even Twitter we don't know. We aim to see what happens and how that will affect digital market marketers in the long run. Now in other news, Salesforce, the popular CRM apart from HubSpot, Salesforce has signed an agreement to acquire slack now report says that this has gone through a trend $7.7 billion deal and might be optimistic in terms of the acquisition in that slack already had close integrations with Salesforce. But now the only concern that I majority of marketers do have is whether Salesforce will pull the plug from free users and you know, force everyone to pay because slack had its free version that everyone enjoy using but with acquisition from Salesforce, we don't know what really to expect. Pretty much that's it for this week's digital marketing news. If you have any questions make sure to reach out to me I guess not safe group.net You can also find me on social media at I am Kim Augustine but until then see you guys on the next podcast episode.
